Mary Margaret (MM) Powrie is a Toronto-based filmmaker, digital creator, festival programmer and newly-minted podcaster. MM is the writer, director and producer of docSam doc – a film about her father, a retired physician, researcher, and host of a 1990s TV show in Winnipeg on “Health and Longevity”. A true cinéaste, Mary Margaret has attended TIFF for 30 years and Hot Docs for 18 and was at Cannes the year Paris, Texas won the Palme d’or. After years of blogging about her film festival experiences, MM created Film Friends Focus - a podcast where @haikugirlmm and friends share their favourite movie memories from past festivals - star sightings included. MM is completing her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Documentary Media at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). Join us for the premiere of docSam doc at Doc Now Festival in June 2026.​​​
