Mary Margaret (MM) Powrie is a Toronto-based filmmaker, writer, festival programmer and digital creator. MM is interested in archive, memory and traces / what remains and how these can illuminate and inspire new ideas and directions. MM's films leverage analogue and digital formats to explore themes of resilience, connection, family and legacy.

Her debut short film MARATHON WOMEN had its world premiere at Hot Docs 2007. MM is completing her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Documentary Media at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) @torontomet and is excited to premiere her latest short film DOCSAM DOC at Doc Now Festival in June 2026.
